Highlighting the Iconic Stadiums of 2026

While all 16 stadiums are premier sporting arenas, a few hold special historical or architectural status:

Estadio Azteca (Mexico City)

Estadio Azteca is a legendary cathedral of football, having hosted the World Cup finals in 1970 (Pele's Brazil) and 1986 (Maradona's Argentina). In 2026, it becomes the first stadium in history to host matches in three separate FIFA World Cups. It will officially kick off the tournament with Mexico's opening match on June 11, 2026.

MetLife Stadium (New York / New Jersey)

Located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, just outside New York City, MetLife Stadium has been selected to host the grand FIFA World Cup Final on July 19, 2026. This open-air venue is the home of the NFL's New York Giants and New York Jets and has hosted major international fixtures like the Copa América Centenario Final.

SoFi Stadium (Los Angeles)

SoFi Stadium is an architectural marvel featuring a translucent canopy roof and a double-sided oval infinity screen. As one of the newest stadiums in the United States, it is scheduled to host the opening match for the US Men's National Team on June 12, 2026, alongside multiple key knockout fixtures.

AT&T Stadium (Dallas)

Known affectionately as "Jerry World," this massive indoor stadium features a retractable roof and one of the largest high-definition video displays in the world. With a capacity that can be expanded to over 90,000, it is the primary venue for one of the semi-final matchups.
